Jake Buxton leaves Field Mill
full story from mansfieldtown.net: http://www.mansfieldtown.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10325~1339277,00.html STAGS captain Jake Buxton (23) has left Field Mill after 10 years - just 24 hours after Billy McEwan replaced sacked manager Paul Holland. The defender told mansfieldtown.net on Saturday: "I am very sad to leave the club after being here from the age of 13. "I held talks with new boss Billy McEwan yesterday and expressed to him my desire to stay in the Football League." He added: "Following that conversation, the club have agreed to let me go and I thank them for that." Buxton had risen from the Stags' youth ranks, made 174 first team appearances and was club captain for two years. He was offered a new deal by the club at the end of the relegation season, but had always said he wanted to try to find another club and stay in the Football League. Said new Stags chairman Andy Perry, part of a three-man takeover of Mansfield Town on Thursday evening: "This decision has been reached amicably. We would like to thank Jake for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future." |
