Stags release five youngsters
CHAD.co.uk, 18 February 2008
MANSFIELD TOWN have released five youth players who have come to the end of their second year scholarship contracts.
Goalkeeper Luke Gibbons along with Michael Grimoldby, Tom Shaw, Lewis Cracknell and Sam Deas have all been let go.

They were told the news at around 2pm this afternoon.

Stags' Head of Youth David Jervis, told mansfieldtown.net: "This is the worst part of my job."

"The five lads have shown great character, but the coaching staff here at Mansfield Town, which include Billy Dearden and Paul Holland, do not believe that those lads have the attributes to make the next step up - and that is the hardest step to make."

"Some lads are now looking down the university route which is brilliant and justifies the whole course. That is a plus for me.

"Others are wanting to go on trials at other clubs and we will assist them in every way they can. Even though they have been let go here, the world is still their oyster."
