Mansfield Town (FTYBR FC) 4 AS Ilkeston Town 1 Mansfield goals - Gary Bird, James Brown, James Bird 2 It has proved a mixed couple of weeks for the Stags supporters side, FTYBR FC. With the Wrexham game being called off any hopes of a peaceful Saturday were diminished when a IFA League game was fixed up between FTYBR FC and local non-league side, Ilkeston Town. Last season the Stags fans team had won 4-0 in Ilkeston in what was only their 2nd IFA game, Ilkeston had greatly improved since those early days and proved worthy opposition throughout the game. Stags took the lead through Gary Bird, his third goal in as many games and were two nil up when free kick specialist, James Brown hammered in an unstoppable free kick from 25 yards. Ilkeston though were flung a lifeline before the break when Keith Gilbert was adjudged to have handled the ball and a penalty was awarded. Nick Sankey in the Stags goal performed wonders to save the kick but could do nothing to stop the rebound falling to the taker, Ant Meir who hammered home from close range. In the 2nd half, James Brown once again provided the ammunition for striker, James Bird to nod home the Stags side 3rd and it was Birdie again who added a 4th. Special mention must go to Nick Sankey though who in the last few minutes produced a wonder save from close range to deny Ilkeston a 2nd. A save that had both sets of players congratulating the young Stags fans keeper. Man of the match was Gary Bird who took his goal well and proved dangerous all game with speed and skill that caused concern to the visitors defence..
