The Mansfield Town Youth side tonight lost 5-1 to a very strong Retford United outfit.

Michael Grimoldby scored Mansfield's consolation goal.

Retford's scorers were Adrian Littlejohn, Mick Godber (2), Ashley Kitchen og, and Lee Holmes.

Half time 3-0 with Lewis Trimmer limping off after 40 minutes with an ankle injury and being replaced with Michael Grimoldby.

Even though Retford will be playing one division below Matlock in the non-league pyramid, they looked a much stronger outfit than the Derbyshire side.

The Stags youth team worked extremely hard but it was a case of men against boys.

Rory Boulding was the Stags player who showed most potential, with Burrell in midfield and Ryan Gaward on the left also playing well.

Stags: Gibbons, Kitchen, Turner, Deas, Storer, McCormick, McGhee, Burrell, Trimmer, Boulding, Goward. Subs: Logan, West, Dundee, Lolsop, Grimoldby.
