STATEMENT FROM ANDREW PERRY
20th March 2007 14:29

The following statement has been released by Andrew Perry exclusively to Stagsnet.

Negotiations for Mansfield Town Football Club
20TH MARCH 2007

In the light of Monday's comments made by James Derry on behalf of Keith Haslam, I wish to make my position absolutely clear.

· I have for six months been asking Keith Haslam for audited accounts for Mansfield Town Football Club in order that I could prepare a formal offer for the club

· Despite numerous meetings, including our respective financial advisors and despite agreeing broad principles on which to proceed, no accounts have been forthcoming

· Even in the absence of accounts, I have given Keith Haslam a written offer for the club, conditional upon there being no hidden liabilities of which I had not been made aware (and which of course would be apparent if audited accounts had been made available)

· Keith Haslam has rejected this offer

· As far as I am aware I am the only person to stand and be counted in this saga. My offer was a genuine offer and was made in good faith. It was motivated by a strong desire to have local control of the club and was driven by the interests of the fans and the wider Mansfield community

· The statements made by the club are a denial of the facts and represent for me a fundamental breach of trust. I will not therefore, be continuing negotiations with Mr Haslam

War of words over 'no Stags bid' claims
CHAD website, 20 MARCH 2007

STAGS' main sponsor Andy Perry has entered into a war of words with Mansfield Town FC –– and announced that he will no longer attempt to buy the club.

His comments come in response to a statement made by club chairman James Derry, who said Mr Perry had not followed through on claims that he wished to buy the club.

But Mr Perry says he has already made an offer the club –– despite being unable to obtain a copy of the club's accounts –– which chief executive Keith Haslam has rejected.

He said: "As far as I am aware I am the only person to stand and be counted in this saga.

"My offer was a genuine offer and was made in good faith –– it was motivated by a strong desire to have local control of the club and was driven by the interests of the fans and the wider Mansfield community.

"The statements made by the club are a denial of the facts and represent for me a fundamental breach of trust. I will not therefore, be continuing negotiations with Mr Haslam."

Mr Haslam yesterday denied that he had rejected any offers made by Mr Perry.
