BIRCHALL GOES ON LOAN TO BARNET

Birchall goes out on Loan
mansfieldtown.net, 22Nov2006

Stags' forward Adam Birchall has signed a loan deal that will keep him at London club Barnet until 02 January 2007.

The move comes after the former Arsenal striker found himself further down the pecking order for a first team place than was first anticipated when he arrived at Field Mill under the reign of Carlton Palmer. But at Field Mill faces stiff competition for a place with Richard Barker, Danny Reet, Simon Brown and Chris Beardsley ahead of him in the selection process and stags' boss Peter Shirtliff feels that the move can only be good for him saying "as a player you can quickly lose your match fitness if you are not playing regular football and with Danny Sleath and Rory Boulding having both benefited from loan spells away from the club I think that it will be of great benefit to Adam"

Birchall himself, a London boy will be delighted to get the opportunity of playing first team football and will see the move as a positive step in his career.
