15th August 2006 20:10

Leicester City Reserves 4 Stags Reserves 1

Report for Stagsnet via Foxes Fan mate in Aylestone of John Street.

Stags featuring the following fringe players White, Buxton, Birchall, Lloyd, Beardsley and Reet were beaten at LCFC Training ground on tuesday afternoon.

Leicester City also featured at least 7 first teamers in Weslowski who scored two, De Vries, O Grady, Mmcauley, Porter, Dodds and Sheehan.

plus senior Youth Team players replacing them. (Your Youth Teamers looked distinctivley younger)

Stags who gave a run out to a few 1st team squad plus lots of youth teamers certainly played there part in this lively and at times ferocious fixture

certainly came out with some credit, however as two goals came from Corner scrambles, the defensive part of the game could be have been a bit tidier.

Midfield looked neat and tidy, with some football better passing than the Foxes offered at times.

Up front Stags looked quite nifty at times but once they had gone behind with the scrambles it looked over, however we were quite impressed

with the effort, application, and football at times was very good from Stags (forget the result - without the scrambles it would have been 2 - 1)

Wesolowski Stars in Reserve Triumph

James Wesolowski came through 90 minutes of action as a Leicester City XI posted a convincing 4-1 victory over Mansfield Town in a behind closed doors friendly on Tuesday afternoon.
Wesolowski had made his comeback from a thigh injury as a late substitute in Saturday's 2-1 Championship win over Ipswich Town.
And the young Australian midfielder continued his rehabilitation with a solid performance in the middle of the park against the Stags at the Belvoir Drive training ground.
City's reserve side contained a blend of youth and experience, with Mark de Vries, Chris O'Grady, Gareth McAuley, Levi Porter, Louis Dodds and Alan Sheehan all getting a run out.
Academy midfielder Andy King gave the foxes the lead on 15 minutes, with former Lincoln centre-half McAuley doubling the advantage from close range on the half-hour mark.
Dodds and O'Grady added goals in the second period, before Mansfield grabbed a late consolation.

City [4-3-3]: Logan, Magunda, Lycett, McAuley, Sheehan [Beswick 72], Wesolowski, King, Porter [Tejan-Si 66], de Vries, O'Grady, Dodds.
