The police are to study close circuit video tape of supporters who attended Lincoln City's home match against Mansfield Town, which took place last Saturday.

There was a particular nasty incident during the match that saw a flare land inside the Mansfield supporters' area. It remains unclear as to which section of the crowd that the flare originated from.

This incident then led to attempted skirmishes between both sets of supporters. In total, one Mansfield Town fan and five Lincoln City fans were ejected from Sincil Bank.

Police have now confirmed that they will study CCTV tape to try and identify the flare throwing culprit. However, officials from Lincoln City FC are believed to have already looked at the tapes but found them inconclusive.

This was the second time within a matter of weeks that both clubs have seen crowd disturbances at their home fixtures. Two weeks ago, a group of Lincoln City's supporters clashed with their counterparts from Grimsby Town. A week last Saturday saw Mansfield's home match against Oxford United held up for several minutes while Oxford's supporters were calmed following a controversial Mansfield goal.

Despite the flare incident, the match between Lincoln City and Mansfield passed mostly without incident. There was just one arrest from a crowd of over 6,000 - with the arrest taking place outside Sincil Bank on public order offences.

Police have confirmed that they will study CCTV footage to identify those caught up in the violent scenes at Sincil Bank last weekend....

Police have now confirmed that they are looking closely at the events leading up to 2 incidents at Saturday's game between Lincoln and the Stags.

The first was a flare being thrown into the visiting enclosure as the home side took the lead, this resulted in skirmishes between both sets of supporters, with stewards struggling to regain control. Half a dozen supporters were then ejected from the ground.

After the game, fighting broke out as visiting supporters tried to make their way back to the coaches, which resulted in police breaking up rival supporters.

Recent weeks has seen the Stags involved in unsavoury incidents of the field of play, most notably the trouble as Oxford were beaten 1-0 at Field Mill, when visiting supporters invaded the pitch and tried to storm the home end, with fighting breaking out after the game as well.
