This week in The League Paper, Stags' keeper Kevin Pressman chooses the best players that he has played in his career in the feature Dream Team
Here is a little teaser from his selection Right-back: Roland Nilsson retired Roland was a model professional at Sheffield Wednesday. He had a never-say-die attitude and always gave 100 per cent. He was a willing worker and an important player in our side he was someone you could rely on and was a consistent performer over a period of time. Roland had a good sense of humour and was a good lad. Had a short spell managing Coventry, but is now a manager back in his native Sweden. Made more than 100 appearances for his country. Centre-midfield: Carlton Palmer retired Carlton was the fittest bloke I have ever seen in football. Box-to-box, he was frightening at his peak. He could get up and down, tackle and do the leg work. Took some flak when he played for England, but a lot of that was unfair. He wasn't what people envisaged an England player would be, he didn't get on the ball and spray it around, but he ratted things and broke up the opposition's play. He used to get it and give it simply that was his strength and got him into the England squad in the first place. A massive influence at Sheffield Wednesday, Carlton was my boss at Mansfield for a while and is now doing media work. For the rest of Kevin's answers and a match report from Mansfield's trip to Lincoln buy The League Paper, this Sunday/Monday. |
