"It was one of those again today," said Stags boss Peter Shirtliff. "We have been unfortunate in our last four or five games and it's quite reflective of what's been happening. We just can't kill teams off.
"Macclesfield were not very ambitious in getting men forward and it was a bit compact in midfield. And, after last week's performance, it was perhaps understandable we were a bit hesitant.
"But second half I though we played very well. They knew the game was there for the taking.
"We started to get the ball out to wide areas but we lacked quality in the final third. We should have tried to get behind them at times instead of trying 25 yard shots.
"Our goal was a good diagonal ball from Kyle Jacobs and a good finish from Adam Rundle. But for their equaliser I think players have got to take a bit more responsibility individually in clearing the corner."

Speaking to Radio Nottingham after the game, Shirtliff said "It's one of those, we've probably been a bit unfortunate in the last 4 or 5 home games, we haven't taken 3 points in every game really. It's quite reflective of what's been happening, we just couldn't kill them off"

"I thought it took a little while obviously, they (Macclesfield) weren't that ambitious in getting men forward, so it was a little compact in midfield. On the back of last weeks performance, it was understandable we were a bit hesitant. After 20 minutes we settled down, we started to get the ball in wide areas and cause them problems. Our quality was lacking just a little in the final third, we didn't create clear cut openings, Danny Reet had a half chance from a cross, but not much else apart from that. 2nd Half I thought we played very well.

"it was a good finish from Adam (Rundle), and a good diagonal pass from Kyle Jacobs"

"I just said to them, that we couldn't kill them off, and we need to take responsibilities at corners"

"For the 2nd half in particular, I thought we were excellent, our passing was a lot better, if we'd have just had a little more composure, and got round the back of them, instead of shooting from 20-25 yards."

Asked if he was happy the protest was now out of the way and he could get back to concentrating on the football, Shirtliff replied "yes, but the chants are still there though aren't they?"

HORTON REACTION
Brian's thoughts about the game at Field Mill

"I thought we looked a bit jaded today, we've played five games in two weeks. Most people would say that shouldn't be a problem, but it's been more or less the same players in each match. Credit to them though, we were a goal down and managed to come away with one point."

"I thought we might have won the game at the end, in fact I thought we might have had a penalty due to a hand ball. We had a couple of good opportunities this afternoon, but so did Mansfield. I think a draw was a fair result."

"The lads will look forward to a week where they can have a bit of a rejuvenation because they have played a lot of games and also plan ahead for the match against Wrexham at the Moss Rose next weekend."
