MTFC POLICY ON BANNERS

TEAM Mansfield's Chris Vasper received the following letter from MTFC Safety Officer John Sidney. Here is the letter in full.
----------- Dear Chris With reference to your recent letter requesting permission to display banners inside the ground on match days. On Friday 23rd inst. The club considered your request at a meeting of their officials and as a result of this decided as a matter of policy that no banners would be allowed inside the ground on match days. However, they will allow supporters to bring moderately sized flags supporting their teams into the ground providing that they only bear the name of the club they support and a satisfactory risk assessment has been carried out by myself prior to the game. It is therefore with regret that I have inform you that your request is denied and that any offending material displayed inside the ground will be removed along with those who seek to display it and that a club ban may be imposed if thought by the club officials to be appropriate. In the meantime we will be asking the Football Authorities to consider writing a national policy on banners into the football regulations and through the Football Safety Officers Association we will be asking all clubs to support our policy on this matters Yours sincerely, John Sidney |
