FTYBR FC TAKE ON MAD HATTERS ON SATURDAY
23rd November 2005 23:54

This Saturday, the 26th FTYBR FC take on the Mad Hatters from Stockport County. (Abbott Road 11 am kick off) hoping to get back to winning ways following three successive defeats.

The game which is in the IFA league brings together FTYBR's young side against a Stockport County side who have won 3, drawn 1 and lost of their five games so far this season. Their last game saw a 4-1 away win at Tranmere Rovers.

Last weekend saw the Mansfield side go down 3-1 to their Shrewsbury Town counterparts.

The first goal came against the run of play on 41 minutes, a lack of concentration on the far post giving the Shrews forward a simple free header. It was 2-0 on 59 minutes, although the goal was clearly offside, the Referee waved away all protests. The Shrews wrapped up the game on 66 minutes with a thunderous effort that although Keeper, Nick Sankey got a hand to, could not prevent going into the top left hand corner.

With nine minutes to go, young Conor Tyldsley had to leave the field with a nasty cut to the head, but just a minute later, Andy Stokes was fouled in the area and a penalty awarded. Jamie Wheatman knocking the resulting spot kick into the bottom left hand corner to score his first FTYBR goal.

The result did flatter Shrewsbury a touch and one can't help but wonder if Gary Bird's first half effort had hit the back of the net, if things may have gone differently.

Squad.

Sankey, Coupe, Wheatman J, Stokes, Sansom, Sharpe (Cpt), Holmes, Cross, Bird G, Tyldsley, Bird J. Subs; Wheatman R, Waddington.
