Shirtliff delighted with draw

PETER Shirtliff was delighted with Mansfield Town's performance in the 0-0 draw against his old club, Sheffield Wednesday, at Field Mill last night.
Stags earned a 0-0 draw in front of an unofficial attendance of 2,356 and Director of Football Shirtliff said: "Obviously Wednesday are a Championship side and they looked strong.
"So I was pleased with our performance and it was a good work-out for us.
"We created a few chances, got into good situations and I am only disappointed that we didn't actually score.
"Our work ethic was terrific and we showed energy and enthusiasm and wanted to get forward. We just need to produce a bit more quality than we are showing right now in those situations.
"The proof in the pudding will be at Stockport on 6th August, but things are moving in the right direction.
"It would be nice to win on Saturday as that breeds confidence as does scoring goals for our strikers."
