PREVIEW : PRESSMAN DEBUT
22nd July 2005 15:31

PRESSMAN DEBUT ...BUT DES IS OUT
Evening Post, 22 July 2005
Veteran goalkeeper Kevin Pressman will make his first appearance in a Mansfield shirt against Huddersfield at Field Mill tonight.

The former Sheffield Wednesday stopper has shaken hands on a one-year deal as the club's number one goalkeeper and coach.

Young goalkeeper Jason White will now be sent out on loan to a Conference club for the coming season.

But fans hoping to see former England and Nottingham Forest star Des Walker in action will be disappointed.

The 39-year-old pulled his hamstring in a brief appearance for the Stags against Retford this week and could be out for up to six weeks.

Manager Carlton Palmer is still confident that Walker will sign and in the meantime former Forest defender Jon Olav Hjelde has agreed a deal to sign for Mansfield.

He is believed to have snubbed League One side Doncaster to join the Stags but will not play tonight because he needs to work on his fitness.

Meanwhile, defender Alex John-Baptsiste has been put on standby for the England under-20 squad to travel to Russia next month.

He joins Notts County's Kelvin Wilson on the standby list.

Mansfield's match at Field Mill tonight kicks-off at 7pm.
