Palmer happy with Hatters reunion
teamtalk.com

Mansfield manager Carlton Palmer is looking forward to his return to Stockport at the start of next season.

Palmer managed the Hatters from November 2001 until September 2003 but will be found in the opposition dug-out at Edgeley Park when Mansfield play their opening game of the new season.

"It's going to be the first time I've been back to Stockport as a manager," said Palmer.

"I enjoyed my time as manager there but a lot of the good people I knew when I was at Stockport have since left the club.

"I had a good relationship with the fans there too but I have to be professional because we'll be going there with a job to do.

"But it's a good game for us on the opening day of the season and we're already looking forward to it."

Fixtures list sends Palmer back to Stockport
CHAD website, 23 June 2005

STAGS player-manager Carlton Palmer will make an immediate return to his former club, Stockport County, on the opening day of the new League Two season.
Today's release of the forthcoming season's fixtures have Stags down for the trip to Edgeley Park on Saturday, 6th August.
And Stags fans are in for a bumper August Bank Holiday weekend with a trip to Boston United on Saturday, 27th August before coming back to Field Mill on Monday, 29th August for the local derby with Notts County - a big day for former Stags keeper Kevin Pilkington who moved to Notts yesterday.
The return derby at Meadow Lane is on Saturday, 4th March.
Rushden and Diamonds provide the first Field Mill opposition on Tuesday, 9th August.
The hotly-anticipated clashes with Keith Curle and Chester City will be at Chester on Saturday, 3rd September and at Mansfield on Saturday, 7th January.
Christmas action sees Stags at Northampton Town on Boxing Day and at home to Bristol Rovers two days later.
New Year's Eve - a Saturday - sees a trip to Oxford United while Lincoln City provide a derby start to the New Year at Field Mill on Monday, 2nd January.
Wrexham away will be a testing trip on a Tuesday night on 6th December.
But away fans will be relieved that the long hauls to Torquay United (25th February), Carlisle United (15th October) and Bristol Rovers (25th March) are all Saturday games.
The season ends with a home game against Cheltenham Town on Saturday, 6th March.
There will be a full cut-out-and-keep Stags fixture list in next Wednesday's Chad.
