PATIENT young keeper Jason White will finally get his big chance after Kevin Pilkington was ruled out for the rest of the season today.
Pilkington dislocated a shoulder when he landed awkwardly in training yesterday.
So White (21) will finally make his full League debut for the club against Darlington at Field Mill this Saturday (3pm).
Manager Carlton Palmer said: "As one door closes, another opens and this is a chance for Jason to show what he can do in the last four games.
"I was always going to play Jason in a game or two anyway and he would have started on Saturday, even if Kevin had been fit.
"They have put Kevin's shoulder back in at the hospital but it has damaged ligaments so that'sthe end of his season."
White (20) has been a patient understudy to Pilkington in recent seasons through for the last two years, with no reserve side, he has had a frustrating lack of real action.
"It has been a problem with no reserve side as such but Jason has been patient," said Palmer. "He's a good lad and has waited for his opportunity.
"His contract is up this summer, but he is a good young keeper who I have been very impressed with and we are almost there with agreeing a new deal."
"I also want to sit down with Kevin Pilkington as soon as possible and start negotiations."
White's only start came in the LDV Vans Trophy at Macclesfield last November which Stags lost 4-0, though White was not to blame.
Ironically one of Stags' remaining games is a return trip to Macclesfield.
