GILES COKE AND CHRIS WOOD SIGN ON
8th April 2005 18:05

mansfieldtown.net reports that Giles Coke has put pen to paper signing a deal that will see him as a Mansfield Town player until the end of next season with the possibility of a years extension.

The former Kingstonian midfielder was delighted at securing a future in professional football saying "my parents were on holiday when I came to Mansfield Town so it was a real shock to them having watched me play at one club then being at another just a week later. They was pleased that I was to have a shot on the professional stage and I am delighted I have been made to feel most welcome by all the players, staff, management and fans and I hope to help get Mansfield promoted, if not this season then next season."

Carlton Palmer is now waiting on a reply from Adam Rundle who has been offered a similar deal and is hoping that he will follow suit and sign early next week.

mansfieldtown.net reports that Stags Manager Carlton Palmer has offered another of the Stags youngsters a more permanent future at Field Mill. Skipper of the youth team Chris Wood has become the latest member to sign a contract that will keep him at the Mill until the end of last season (comment from Martin - assume this means next season).

'Woody' has already made a first team appearance when he replaced Layton Maxwell in the 84th minute at Spotland in January.

"I was delighted to be one of the third years offered a contract especially as so many young lads have their dreams shattered at this stage. I have played alongside Anton (Brown) and Danny (Heron) at youth level and I am now just looking forward to getting a chance to play alongside them in the first team" he told the official website this morning.
