Palmer will stay after change of heart
CHAD website, 06 March 2005 CARLTON Palmer has had a change of heart after yesterday's threat to quit and he will become Mansfield Town's new full-time manager sometime this week. Palmer has been caretaker-manager for almost four months at Field Mill but threatened to walk away yesterday after being abused by a section of Stags fans over their side's poor display in the 1-1 home draw with Shrewsbury. However, this morning Palmer said: "I have spoken to the chairman and people in the game who I respect and they have all pointed out that my record at Mansfield is a good one. "They have told me not to go and the players don't want me to go either. "So as far as I am concerned it is no longer an issue. I will leave this club for footballing reasons and nothing else." |
