Pool assistant boss Billy Dearden dismissed the latest specualtion linking the Seasiders with a move for Mansfield's Wayne Corden, at the pre-match press conference Dearden said, "It is another story Carlton Palmer has put out, because he doesn't want him at Mansfield Town, There is no interest from this club."
On the Rob Clare speculation Dearden added, "I know the Nottingham press very well, as you know I spent a number of years at Mansfield and Notts County, I was very, very surprised when that article appeared in the Nottingham Evening Post, nobody from Mansfield has made an approach for any of our players and if they did we would take it from there. As far as Robert Clare and Simon Grayson are concerned we haven't received any approach or offer and this is just speculation from their end. Whether Mansfield are trying to stir one or two things up I don't know but it looks that way from my point of view."

Meanwhile mansfieldtown.net reports that the Left Back that Carlton Palmer has been chasing should be arriving at Field Mill in time to make an appearance at Field Mill against Southend United:

"A deal has been done" said Carlton "But, he has picked up a Hamstring injury whilst playing for his club and I would rather wait an extra week to allow it to fully heal than bring him in early then lose the player due to a reoccurrence of the injury after his first game" he added

The un-named player does ply his trade on a higher league and should fit nicely into the existing squad. But despite being a natural left footer the question on many supporters lips is: 'will he do a better job than Jake Buxton who has performed so well in this role lately'
