STAGS LOOK TO EXTEND WARNE LOAN
23rd December 2004 18:08

mansfieldtown.net reports that at a local press conference today, Stags Caretaker Manager Carlton Palmer announced that he was looking to extend on loan player Paul Warne's contract for another month, with a view to possibly sealing a permanent deal due to his current contract at Rotherham expiring at the end of the season. Carlton said that the signings of both Paul and Richie (Barker) 'were a breath of fresh air for the club & with Paul bringing an air of professionalism to the dressing room'. Speaking earlier Carlton assessed the situation as nearing completion, but reminded everyone that deals can fall through at the last minute and so was cautiously optimistic about a deal being agreed in the next couple of days. Further news will be posted as and when it occurs.

Meanwhile mansfieldtown.net reports that at a press conference earlier today, Caretaker Manager Carlton Palmer noted the importance of improving fitness levels in the team to finish out games and to climb the table. Palmer added that he sees the squad as a talented set of professionals saying that the Stags have 'probably got the four best centre halves in the league', and coupling this with high fitness levels he says the players can only become stronger, especially towards the final stages of games. He continued by saying that 'the lads have worked really hard in training this week and are ready for the game on Boxing Day'. When asked about the effect of the Keith Curle situation on the team, Carlton responded by saying that everyone is very busy during this hectic period of fixtures and the team were concentrating only on getting results.
