3rd December 2004 12:18

Carlton Palmer was the special guest on Yorkshire TV's Soccer Night Extra at midnight last night, with Andy Townsend. Palmer said that he had spoken to the chairman that evening and been told that there should be an announcement by Monday about the Keith Curle situation. The Mansfield Town Chairman Keith Haslam says he hopes to make an announcement about manager Keith Curle's future early next week. Curle was suspended three weeks ago after a training ground incident, and Carlton Palmer has been in temporary charge of team affairs since. It was hoped that the investigation into Curle's suspension could be sorted by this weekend, but according to Haslam, a solution is now nearing.

Meanwhile, Stags midfielder Neil MacKenzie has been fined a weeks wages by the club. MacKenzie went on loan to Macclesfield last week, and criticised Carlton Palmer. There's still no news from Field Mill over the potential signing of West Brom's Simon Brown. Palmer had hoped to clinch his signature earlier this week.
