STAGS TO PLAY PRESTON IN LEAGUE CUP
9th July 2004 18:32

Mansfield Town have drawn Preston at home in the first Round of the Carling Cup.
-------------
Keith Curle told mansfieldtown.net that last season's Carling Cup clash with Sunderland - which the Black Cats narrowly won 2-1 - proved Mansfield were capable of giving the big guns a run for their money.

Said the Field Mill supremo: "We're at home for a start which is always the first thing you look for in a cup draw and we've also got a big club from the Championship division.

"Preston will provide a great early-season test for the lads but it's a challenge I have no doubt we'll rise to.

"Last season we played Sunderland at our place in the first round and we have them a very good game indeed so I'll be looking for more of the same against Preston."
