Macca to stay on!

Stags Mid Field ace Neil MacKenzie today agreed to sign a new 1 year deal at Field Mill.

Despite having received numerous calls from other clubs, some in higher divisions MacKenzie chose to carry on plying his trade at the mill believing that after last season's near miss the Stags are destined to do well.
"I am delighted that the gaffer had faith in me and chose to keep me on after letting some of the other lads go. Mansfield Town is a good footballing side and we came so close to promotion last season I believe that with some of the new signings joining an already strong and tight side we are destined for the higher reaches in the football league, and, I am pleased that the gaffer feels that I can play an integral part in achieving the club's goals." he told the official website this afternoon.

One employer who will not be accepting the new contract offer at the mill is pacy front runner Junior Mendes who has been approached by Huddersfield Boss Peter Jackson offering an attractive two year deal.Having turned down an offer at Field Mill it is believed that Mendes will be accepting Jackson's offer and signing the lucrative deal that will see him siding with newly promoted Huddersfield Town.

It is believed that Jackson had been eyeing Mendes for some time but his mind was made up about the player when the stags visited the McAlpine Stadium and subjected Huddersfield to a 3-1 thrashing when Junior was responsible for turning experienced full back David Mirfin inside out.

One of the names linked with a move to Field Mill is Adam Murray who whilst on loan at the stags in their promotion season of 2001/02 played a major role in winning one of the three automatic slots. Contact has been made with Kidderminster Harriers today with the intent to speed the pending transfer deal more details will appear on this site soon.
