Tues 13 April 2004 John Street Stags Reserves turned in a good performance at Port Vales Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon. Stags featuring Beardsley, Andy White, Dave Artell and Luke Dimech started well and took the lead within the first few minutes when Lloyd wriggled into the box and opened a chance for Beardsley whose shot was saved but the rebound was rifled home by Hurst for an early lead. Stags kept their lead and in the first half and looked the better side and likely to add to it, with chances for Andy White and Beardsley created by the flourishing Stags midfield. Dave Artell and Luke Dimech were superb at the back and restricted Vale's chances. Jason White also pulled off some fine saves before being replaced late on by Coates. Various Stags changes in the second half, and a late goal conceded didn't spoil the performance from the Stags which was vibrant and created endless chances for White, Beardsley and later in the game Mitchell.
