The Field Mill playing surface was dug up this afternoon. The pitch had been in poor condition throughout the season and so the Stags have decided to lay a new one, costing over £10,000. The top is removed from the old surface and then a bed of sand is laid before top soil and seed are put on to finish the job. It is hoped the new surface will stand up better to the harsh winter conditions and complement the Stags exciting passing brand of football. See below for a couple of pictures taken this afternoon.
