CURLE CONVINCED STAGS WOULD HAVE WON ABANDONED MATCH
Evening Post website Mansfield's drive to secure a play-off place was put on hold as their match at Field Mill was called off at half-time due to high winds. But manager Keith Curle believed his side could have won the game despite the conditions. "Conditions were harsh and I thought we coped admirabley," said Curle. "Oxford had the wind behind them but Kevin Pilkington didn't have a save to make." Curle continued: "The referee had his reservations but I thought it was okay. "But the referee made his decision and you have stand by that. "I have to say that having failed to make the most of their advantage, I don't think Oxford would've wanted to carry on." ----------- Audio interview with Keith Curle from BBC Radio Nottingham (RealPlayer needed) http://www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/realmedia/football/2004/stags_oxford_home_curle.ram ---------- Audio interview with David Oldfield from BBC Radio Oxford (RealPlayer needed) http://www.bbc.co.uk/oxford/realmedia/sport/football.ram ----------- |
