Greenacre rejects loan deals
By Gareth Cooper

Chris Greenacre has rejected loan moves to both Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers, saying he wants to stay at Stoke and fight for his place. Meanwhile there is further news on Carl Asaba, Ed de Goey and Neil Cutler this weekend

Out of favour Stoke striker Chris Greenacre has rejected the possibility of loan moves to both Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers, it has been reported this weekend.

The former Mansfield Town man has started just ten games for Stoke this season, netting twice - against Derby County on the opening day of the season, and then a late equaliser in a 1-1 home draw against Crewe back in the Autumn. Last season Chris netted six goals from 21 starts after an injury plagued start to his Stoke career after signing in the summer of 2002. Most recently current Mansfield manager Keith Curle also expressed an interest in bringing the former Stags hero back to Field Mill, but with little success. Greenacre seems adamant that he'll be remaining a Stoke player for the time being:-

"The manager has told me he wants me here and I want to be part of a Stoke City doing well, and so I don't really want to go out on loan at the moment.

"I'm flattered by the interest, but this is a massive club and I would rather carry on trying to improve alongside all the players with Premiership experience here at Stoke"
