YOUTH TEAM BEATEN BY CARLISLE

21 Feb 2004 Report by John Street Stags Youth team entertained Carlisle United at Forest Town on Saturday morning, and fielding 4 trialists for next years potential intake, and 3 first years, they started quite strongly. Curle went close firing just over the bar, and Stags physically controlling the midfield, so it was no surprise when they took the lead following a goal mouth scramble, resulting in one of the trialists bundling the ball over the line. 1-0 up at Half time and in control. However as happened last week at Stockport the Stags didn't finish the job off, and Carlisle got back into the game with a second half equaliser. Andy Jones and Lloyd were battling well to keep control of the game for the home side, but finding themselves overpowered as the game progressed. Jones was booked for an elbowing incident and lucky to remain on the field. In the final minutes Carlisle following another goalmouth scramble bundled the ball over the goal line for a 2-1 victory.
