Stags Youth 3 Chester City Youth 1
Hankey 2 (1 penalty), Heron Tue 27 Jan 2004 Report by John Street Stags Youth Team pushed Chester City aside with a strong display at Forest Town on Tuesday afternoon. After finishing Saturday's defeat at home to Wrexham when they dominated for only the first half this afternoon they dominated for the duration of the 90 minutes. Heron was bundled over early in the game and Hankey poked home the resulting penalty. Minutes later Hankey took an half chance with an overhead kick which found the roof of the net. Then amid confusion by the Chester defence appealing for a free kick that wasnt given, Lloyd was alert enough to continue carry the ball forward and slip the ball to Heron who scored the Stags third before the break. After the break Stags kept control without adding to their tally with Arnold, and Curle going close before Chester grabbed a goal back with 20 minutes to go, but Stags contained affairs to see out a good victory overall. Good performances all round though Woods, Ryles, Parks, Lloyd and Hankey looked well assured. Team: Coates, JonesD, Woods, Naylor, Holmes, Arnold, Lloyd, Parks, CurleT, Heron, Hankey Subs Used: Zaccarius |
