CURLE AND TERNANT REACTION
3rd January 2004 22:38

CHAD
Stags boss Keith Curle was again left seething by an official but said: "We'll take this on the chin and come back out next week fighting.
"I don't want to go on about the officials as I've spent enough time with the FA this season - I'm just upset they didn't send me a Christmas card.
"This is the third time this season we've finished with nine men and maybe I am going to have to work on a new formation in training.
"Jamie Clarke is despondent. He is an honest lad and had his eyes focused on the ball when he went in with their keeper. It was a genuine attempt to win the ball.
"Our biggest crowd of the season came here to enjoy an FA Cup tie but again have gone home talking about the officials.
"Burnley are a very good team with quality First Division players who have given a good account of themselves.
"Burnley started well and could have been four up inside 15 minutes. But that's the beauty of the cup and if we'd been able to pull one back through Liam Lawrence or managed to keep 11 players on the pitch, things might have been different."

Ternent: 'It Was Deserved'
Burnley official site
Burnley boss Stan Ternent: "We deserved the win. We played very well and I thought it could have been four or five in the first 15 minutes and we thoroughly deserved the win.
"I'm pleased for the players because we've had some bad luck in recent weeks and we're in the hat.
"I thought Mansfield were a little over physical at times, but we've done well and it was marvellous for the defence to keep a clean sheet."
Ternent also revealed how he had used a national newspaper headline to inspire his side to victory. The Sun had predicted Burnley would 'curl up and die' in the game and Stan added: "I'd like to thank them for that, because it was my team talk and it worked."
