AUCTION TONIGHT FOR LOCAL BOY
18th December 2003 13:41

An Auction will be held tonight to raise funds for local footballer Jimmy Adcock who recently lost an eye in a freak accident. Money is being raised to allow 12 year old Jimmy, who plays for Sutton Saint Joseph's Colts, to be a mascot at Old Trafford later on in the season. The auction will take place at Sutton Saint Joseph's Social Club, High Pavement, Sutton starting at 7.30pm tonight (18th December).

Club Secretary Sue Paling said "Jimmy unfortunately he was in a freak accident at school and lost one of his eyes on November 4th, this accident affected the whole of our under 12s team and they did not want to play without Jimmy so matches were cancelled on the 8th and 15th He then turned up for training the following Wednesday, only days after coming out of hospital
On the 22nd November he turned up at the pitch side and asked his Manager if he could play the last 10 minutes. His Manager refused this plea and said to him “no you will start” which lit his face up and he went on to score his first goal since his accident
Jimbo, as he is affectionately known, was and is a prolific goal scorer and since his return to the club has played in 2 matches and scored 3 goals."

If you can't attend the auction but still wish to pledge support, please contact SSA via this website or e-mail Sue at susan.paling@ntlworld.com.
