PENNEY CONVINCED OF STAGS' POTENTIAL
Evening Post website
Doncaster Rovers 4 v 2 Mansfield Town
Doncaster boss Dave Penney is convinced Mansfield will reach the play-offs this season despite watching the Stags get torn apart by his team at Belle Vue.

Mansfield took a 20th minute lead through Liam Lawrence but Doncaster hit back with four goals.

Greg Blundell levelled for Doncaster five minutes before the interval and second half strikes from Paul Green, a Michael McIndoe penalty and a Chris Brown goal wrapped up a comfortable win for Rovers.

Mansfield boss Keith Curle refused to comment after the game when news filtered through of a family bereavement in the Stags dressing room.

"They're good enough to win promotion," said Penney. "When May comes around they will be there or thereabouts you can bank on that.

"They have some very dangerous players that can turn a game in a moment but they didn't all produce against us.

"Perhaps they were too confident and took us lightly. Mansfield were second in the league and have been in very good form this season.

"I never expected to stick four goals past them and I never expected it to be so easy against a high-flying side."
