Chance to cheer heroes

Mansfield Town fans will have the opportunity to salute their promotion heroes at a special celebration event on Monday evening (29th April) when the players will receive their Nationwide Division Three promotion medals.

The Stags squad was unable to do a lap of honor following Saturday's nail-biting promotion sealing win against Carlisle United at Field Mill, due to the sheer volume of fans celebrating on the pitch.

Both Mansfield District Council and the club were keen that as many supporters as possible were given the opportunity to recognise the team's fantastic achievement.

So plans have hurriedly been put in place to stage the event in Mansfield Market Place on Monday.

The Chad Roadshow will be entertaining the crowd from around 5.45pm, on the build-up to the arrival of the squad.

Players and staff will arrive in the Market Place on an open-top bus supplied by club sponsors, VK Vodka Kick at around 6.15pm, leaving Field Mill at 6pm.

The pinnacle of the celebration evening will be the presentation of the Nationwide League promotion medals to the players on stage by former FIFA referee Jack Taylor, who will be representing the Football League. Jack is best known for officiating at the 1974 World Cup Final.

Mansfield 103.2 presenters will present every player to the crowd, and there will also be an opportunity for supporters to get autographs from their favourite Stags stars.

Immediately following the event, the players will be taken to a special civic reception to mark their achievement.

Coun Malcolm Sage, Chairman of Mansfield District Council said, "In my year in office it has been a privilege to witness countless fantastic performances by the team and no-one can deny that they fully deserved promotion." "This event gives local people and the Council the opportunity to recognise what is a fantastic achievement by the players, staff and everyone associated with the club. “Watch out Division Two!" l

Special souvenir Stags promotion tee-shirts, priced £5, are now available from the club and will be on sale en route on Monday night and in the market place.
