BID FOR LAWRENCE REJECTED
11th October 2003 21:37

Sky Sports News report this morning that Mansfield have turned down a £125,000 bid for Liam Lawrence from Rotherham.

Keith Haslam has told Mansfield 103.2 this morning that Rotherham did approach the club yesterday - an amount wasn't discussed - but he told Rotherham that Lawrence was not available, saying he wants Liam at the club to help the promotion push.

Haslam also said that Rotherham are the only club to approach him about Lawrence.

STAGS TURN DOWN BID
16:00 - 10 October 2003

Mansfield chairman Keith Haslam has told Rotherham United he does not want to sell midfielder Liam Lawrence.

Haslam said he had not received a firm bid from the Millers but told them the 21-year-old will not be moving to Millmoor. It was reported Ronnie Moore had offered £125,000.

Haslam said: "Rotherham asked me if I wanted to sell him and I said no.

"I mean no disrespect to Rotherham but their attendances are about the same as ours.

"I would not want to stand in anyone's way if they were looking to develop their career and, although Rotherham are in the First Division, we are not talking about a huge club."
