CURLE FULL OF PRAISE FOR STUNNING STAGS
Mansfield 5 v 0 Scunthorpe Mansfield manager Keith Curle praised an 'all round team effort' after his side moved to sixth in the table following a 5-0 thrashing of Scunthorpe. Isyden Christie was the star of the show, scoring one goal and playing a pivotal role in almost every Mansfield sortie on the Scunthorpe area. Curle said: "That display was a credit to the players. We showed the measure of discipline that I have been trying to instil. "It was very pleasing on the eye - there was lots of commitment and that has been evident since the start of the season." However, Curle refused to single out Christie for sole praise - insisting he was just as happy to keep a clean sheet. He added: "Even though the strikers will get all the headlines I thought we were solid in defence. There have been grumbles about some of my signings - people say we've got too many defenders and not enough strikers. "But I've always said you need to build a side from the back." |
