STAGSNET`S STATISTICAL PREVIEW
4th August 2003 22:07

Kidderminster, who reached the FA Cup 5th round in 1993-94, then were denied promotion to the FL due to ground regulations, is a team quite new to the Stags fans as they eventually in the 1999-2000 season gained entry to the league as Conf champs. (Incidentally, the same fate happened to Macclesfield in 1994-95, promoted to the League two seasons later). Therefore, the Stags and the Harriers have only faced each other in league fixtures in two seasons before the opening day of the new 2003-04 seasons. And all league games have been close encounters when it comes to results, as the stats below show. The first league encounter took place at Aggborough on Boxing Day 2000, when Durnin scored the only goal of the game early on. But about a month later, the Stags took revenge by winning 2-1 courtesy of goals from Greenacre and Boulding in front of just 1,712 spectators, an attendance figure way below the ones of the last two seasons. In the 2001-02 promotion seasons, both games ended 1-1, at Kidderminster early on due to a Greenacre strike. The 2001-02 Stags highest goal scorer was then sent off in the home game, one that sadly was marred by poor refereeing of a certain Paul Danson – according to the Stagsnet report. But after the sending-off of Greenacre, the Stags still managed to get a draw. A goal by Pemberton just three minutes from time (one of many late point-winning goals that season) secured the 1-1-draw in a night game where the attendance was 4,321. And that game was one of the last before the Stagsnet statistical previews started.
According to the FL website, the ref at Kidderminster will be one who's just been newly appointed to the National Group, Steve Tanner from South Gloucestershire. It's up to the Stagsnet reporters to rate the performance in his first FL game.

Although Kidderminster Harriers several times reached the first round of the FA Cup in their non-league days, they have never faced the Stags in the FA Cup.

Played for both sides: Dion Scott. Matt Gadsby, who last season played for the Stags, is now with Kidderminster, but unlikely to face the Stags due to injury.
