MAN ON ROOF BANNED FROM FOOTBALL GROUNDS
6th May 2003 15:23

Its been reported in the Liverpool Echo today that the man, Stephen Anglesey, who got the Tranmere match abandoned, has been banned from all Premiership and League football grounds for five years and been fined £400 and ordered to surrender his passport.

He pleaded guilty to charges of drunk and disorderly and being drunk at a sporting event. The more serious charge against him of aggravated trespass was dropped.

"The court was told that on the morning of the match Anglesey learned of the death of his grandfather and had started drinking heavily...but in the sober light of day he is full of remorse and would not have wanted to frighten anyone at the football match"
