Mansfield Town manager Nigel Clough has been named the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for February.

With 90 attempts on goal, 28 of them in the 5-1 win over Salford, a 9-2 demolition of Harrogate and 20 goals scored in five games while collecting 12 points, the consistency of Clough’s side deservedly saw them take over top spot in League Two.

Clough said: “I’m proud of our performances in the month of February, scoring 20 goals and reaching the top spot in Sky Bet League Two.

“We’ve had a good month which has included the return of our defender Elliott Hewitt following nine months out with an ACL injury.

“The award is nice but is nothing in comparison to that.”

The February nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month Award are:

Graham Alexander (Bradford City)
Wins over high-flying Wrexham and MK Dons were the highlights as Alexander reversed Bradford’s recent slide to move his team back into Play-Off contention, collecting 10 points from four games and keeping clean sheets in all of them.

Lee Bell (Crewe Alexandra)
Bell’s tactical nous shone as Crewe picked up 11 points from five unbeaten games to move into the top three. Flexible with his formation, he used his side’s fitness levels to press from the front in vital wins at Stockport and Notts County.

Nigel Clough (Mansfield Town)
With 90 attempts on goal, 28 of them in the 5-1 win over Salford, a 9-2 demolition of Harrogate and 20 goals scored in five games while collecting 12 points, the consistency of Clough’s side deservedly saw them take over top spot in League Two.

Mat Sadler (Walsall)
Sadler had to contend with losing his two most experienced central defenders, yet still guided Walsall to 14 points from seven games, ending with four straight wins which lifted his side from 16th to seventh and into the play-off places.
