ACADEMY KEEPER AGED 14 FREDDIE MARSON SOLD TO LEIC

Academy goalkeeper transferred to Leicester City
mansfieldtown.net, 06 June 2023 Mansfield Town Football Club can confirm that a deal has been signed taking 14-year-old goalkeeper Freddie Marson to Leicester City. Academy director Steve Hymas said: "Our very best wishes go to Freddie, and we will follow his career with interest. “This is our first young player to sign for a higher-league football club since we became a Category 3 academy three years ago. read more at https://www.mansfieldtown.net/news/2023/june/academy-goalkeeper-transferred-to-leicester-city/ “We negotiated this move within the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) compensation criteria, so it provides considerable funding to the club as well as a continuing financial interest in his progress, justifying our decision to restart the Academy." --------------------------- Steve Hymas on Stagsnet messageboard: On Freddie Marson, the deal was actually done while Leicester were still in the premier league .It has been ongoing for a while now . We have to look at what’s best for the young player and it’s easy for him to travel in to training which was a key factor and good luck to the lad . Financially it helps run the academy and we make sure that this part of the club I run does not have any impact on club finances . If the lad actually plays for Leicester we get further payments in line with EPPP criteria so we will have a keen interest on how he developes We wish Freddie all the best at Leicester and the negotiations were very smooth with all parties .
