Mansfield v Grimsby postponed
mansfieldtown.net, Fri 16 Dec 2022

Following a pitch inspection this afternoon, Mansfield Town’s Sky Bet League Two match against Grimsby Town has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Frost covers have been on the playing surface for the past 10 days - but recent sub-zero temperatures in Mansfield as well as further decreasing temperatures forecast - have led to the decision to postpone the fixture.

The club was also mindful to call an early pitch inspection to help prevent unnecessary journeys for supporters.

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

Clough tells iFollow Stags, Tues 20 Dec 2022

... on the Grimsby postponement ... that Mansfield wanted to re-arrange the Grimsby game to Tuesday night (20th), but Grimsby didn't.

On losing last weekend's game, Clough added: “We changed our training session on Friday as we usually only have a light session but heard the game was off, despite everyone's best efforts.

“We had the pitch covered for days, as did everyone in the league, but I think only two games survived which shows the severity of the temperatures.

“It's not just the odd day it's when it's three or four nights at minus six or minus seven. The covers can't protect against that."
