Forward pens new contract
mansfieldtown.net, Tues 7 June 2022 Mansfield Town Football Club is delighted to announce that forward Jordan Bowery has signed a new two-year deal at the club. The 30-year-old has become a fans’ favourite at One Call Stadium since originally joining in June 2020 from MK Dons. There’s unfinished business here, after last season, so I’m delighted to finally sign the new contract, get it over the line and kick on for the next season. “I had offers elsewhere but there was only one place [for me]. “I wanted to stay. After [the success] of last season and [with] what the club is looking to do, there is only one place I wanted to be. “The whole town has been very welcoming. “Obviously, in the first year [of my time at the club] there was no fans here [due to Covid-19] but as soon as they came [back], they’ve been excellent, they’ve sang my name quite a lot and it’s been good to hear. “The main objective is to get promoted and that’s the goal we need to set.” --------------------- There’s unfinished business here: Forward mansfieldtown.net Mansfield Town forward Jordan Bowery says he has ‘unfinished business’ at the club after signing a new two-year contract with the Stags yesterday (Tuesday). The ‘delighted’ frontman scored a flurry of crucial goals in a season of significant progress from the Stags and says he ‘feels at home’ at the club. There’s unfinished business here after last season. “I’m delighted to sign the new contract, get it over the line and kick on for the next season.” When asked if the decision to extend his stay at Mansfield was an easy one, the forward said: “Yeah, definitely. I had offers elsewhere but there was only one place I wanted to stay. “After last season and [with] what the club is looking to do, there’s only one place I wanted to be. “The fans have been excellent, the staff, the players - everything. “The backing from the club, the chairman, they’ve backed me, and I do feel at home.” A fans’ favourite, Bowery has formed strong relationship with the Stags’ faithful. “The whole place, the whole town, has been very welcoming,” he said. “In the first few games of the season, I was on the bench and even when I was walking down the touchline, I could hear them. “They’ve [the Stags’ supporters] been massive, not just for me but the whole team. “They’ve been that 12th man and they’ve been pushing us until the end. “They’ve been huge for us. “Scoring a goal is a big thing but when they’re there and you can look up at them and they’re there in numbers, it’s a good feeling.” The former Crewe man has also developed an impressive partnership with fellow forward Rhys Oates. The duo collectively scored 22 of the club’s goals last campaign. “We like playing with each other,” Bowery said. “I feel like we know each other’s game and we both work hard. “It’s a joy to play with him because you know that because he’s so fast and so effective, it maybe frees me up a bit sometimes and vice versa. “I’d like to get into double-figures [for goals] but I feel like I’m not just about goals. “I feel like I bring more; assists, I work hard for the team, I can fill in other positions. “The main objective is to get promoted and that’s the goal we need to set.” --------------------- |
