Stephen McLaughlin picks up four trophies at Mansfield Town awards ceremony Mansfield Town left back Stephen McLaughlin won four of the eight trophies in the club's annual awards ceremony at the club's R&H Academy training ground. McLaughlin said: “I can't believe it. It could have been anyone really. Everybody has had an unbelievable season. It's been the best group I have ever been involved with by far - everybody is class. You've seen the football we've played and the standards we have - it's been great. Even in the dark days at the start of the season we knew we were a good team and some things just weren't going our way at the time. We knew it was going to turn around and it was only a matter of time.” James Perch, Rhys Oates, Charlie Carter and Ellie Marshall picked up the other trophies The awards: Congratulations to Stephen McLaughlin who has been voted as the #Stags supporters’ Player of the Season for 2021/22 with over 50% of the vote! ... as voted for by supporters on the Stags' official website mansfieldtown.net, presented to him by manager Nigel Clough. Presented by Ollerton Stags’ Leanne Gravill, the supporters group voted full-back Stephen McLaughlin as their Player of the Season. Cheryl Foulkes from Stags Supporters Association (SSA) hands over the award for the SSA Player of the Season to the club’s top scorer, Rhys Oates. Chad sports editor, John Lomas - who has covered the club for the local newspaper for 33 years - presents Stephen McLaughlin with the award for Chad readers’ Player of the Season. McLaughlin was a clear winner, polling over half your votes, with Stephen Quinn second and Nathan Bishop third. Presented and sponsored by David (left) and Gary Hinds, Stephen McLaughlin receives the award for Players’ Player of the Season, as voted for by his teammates. Jamie and Laura Hemmings from Superstar Speakers present defender James Perch with the award for Directors’ Player of the Season.
