Sinclair makes Scunthorpe switch
mansfieldtown.net, Mon 24 January 2022

Mansfield Town’s attacking midfielder Tyrese Sinclair has joined Scunthorpe United on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Stags this season - mostly from the substitutes’ bench - but has found first team opportunities limited recently.

Sinclair will not be eligible to play for Scunthorpe against his parent club when the two teams meet in April at the Sands Venue Stadium.

Meanwhile, Nigel Clough’s Mansfield are enjoying a magnificent run of form and equalled a club record seven league victories on Saturday with a 3-1 win at Barrow.

By the end of Monday's transfer deadline Mansfield Town manager Nigel Clough wants to secure a tight-knit squad of players to see out the season as they chase promotion.

Clough has already sent 12 of his 15 younger fringe players out on loan and would like to get the other three out too.

He has only signed two players in the window and only expects one more as cover.

“We don't want people sitting in the stand. That's why we are trying to get the 15 out - 12 have gone already,” he said.

“With 21 games to go it enables us to get a nice tight squad of 17/18 outfield plus the three goalkeepers for the rest of the season.

“It's not a reflection of the players that have gone out on loan, it's a reflection on the improvement of the squad.

“This time last year they were in and around it and maybe playing in the second half of the season, but we now have better players in here and it's harder to break into the team when they're playing so well.”

Keaton Ward and Tyrese Sinclair are the latest pair to go out on loan with Ward heading to Telford United and Sinclair to League Two rivals Scunthorpe United.

“Keaton needs to go out and play so it's a good move for him,” said Clough.

“He played on Saturday in a 5-0 victory so it was a great start for him. He will enjoy some good, competitive football there.

“He had one or two different offers, but we know Paul Carden the manager, we had him at Burton for a time, and Carl Baker his assistant and it is a very good set-up at Telford.

“Although they are struggling in the league, it will be a great experience for him.

“Tyrese needed to go out and play. He has not quite hit the heights that he did at the end of last season.

“He's probably not had as many opportunities, but that means the forwards we have brought in have done so well. And now we've brought Lucas Akins in too it gives us the chance to get him out and play some games.

scunthorpe-united.co.uk, Mon 24 January 2022

Scunthorpe United is delighted to have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Tyrese Sinclair on loan from Mansfield Town for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old is a former Blackburn Rovers academy player who later joined the Stags, where he was named 2018-19 youth player of the year and turned professional two years ago.

Since then, he has made 43 appearances for the Stags and scored four goals, including his strike in Mansfield's 3-0 home win over the Iron in April last year.

He will take the Number 18 shirt. The move is subject to EFL and FA ratification.

Sinclair talks following his Iron loan move
scunthorpe-united.co.uk, Mon 24 January 2022

New on loan addition Tyrese Sinclair has reacted to joining United from Mansfield Town for the rest of the season.

The attacking midfielder spoke to iFollow Iron after putting pen to paper.

He said: "I'm delighted to have joined. I've been speaking to the gaffer (Keith Hill) and he knows what he wants, and I can't wait to get going now and get up that league for him and the fans.

"I'll bring direct pace, a bit of trickery and will hopefully get some goals as well. I'll work hard for the team in and out of possession. I like to take set-pieces too.

"I can't wait to get on the pitch, maybe even tomorrow night (against Bristol Rovers).

"I had a good back-end of last season, scoring a couple of goals and starting most weeks. The gaffer at Mansfield (Nigel Clough) made a couple of signings (in his position) and I knew it was going to be hard. They're going along well now so I thought it was time to get some games under my belt.

"(Keith Hill) spoke well about me and told me how he rates me so I want to try and play every week and help the team up the table. I don't mind that pressure. I hear it's a good set of lads and I'm sure we'll get up the table.

"I already know Jai Rowe and have done for a couple of years, but I've played against most of them last season and this season."

He concluded: "I just want to score as many goals and get as many assists as I can, and get the team up the league."
