Mansfield Town midfielder Keaton Ward and left-back Jaden Charles have signed extended contracts at One Call Stadium, the club is pleased to announce.
Ward, 21, made six substitute appearances for the Stags last season and one start since signing on a free transfer from Barnsley in March. A Stags’ Academy graduate, he was born at King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield and originates from Forest Town.
Charles, 19, appeared twice as a substitute last season after penning a short-term contract in late March. Son of former England international Gary, he was formerly at Derby County’s academy for ten years.
The duo have penned one year deals.
“Both Keaton and Jaden did well in the limited appearances which they made last season,” said Stags’ boss Nigel Clough.
“It’s always encouraging to have young players coming through into the first team along with our senior professionals.
“Keaton has a little more experience out of the two and Jaden shows good potential.
“They’ll be training with the first team every day, and there’s always the possibility of gaining further experience out on loan if necessary.”

"I'm so pleased, so are my family, and all my friends who obviously support the club. I've lived here all my life so it's a massive thing for us all.
"A feeling a massive pride, ... mum, dad, ... nana and grandad are season ticket holders in the West Stand.
On the Oldham game, his first start in professional football: "I didn't know I was starting until an hour and a half before the game, I was just buzzing when I saw my name on the team sheet.
"I just had to go out and prove myself and I think I gave a good account of myself.
"(Nigel Clough) has been brilliant with me, he's helped me. Him, Garns (Andy Garner) and Gaz (Gary Crosby) have all been brilliant with me since I've come in, helping me, telling me what I need to do."

"It's a dream come true to sign a professional contract at a club like Mansfield.
"Nigel spoke to me last season and said he wanted me to be part of his squad next year.
"I spent 10 years at the Derby County academy and I think that's helped me a lot.
"I'm a left back. I can play left wing-back, I can do a job on the wing as well.
"I really enjoyed coming on in the last 10-15 minutes (in the last two games of the season), ... what I've been working towards my whole life.
On his dad, Gary Charles, the ex Aston Villa full back: "He's really happy for me."
