Profile

Steve is the editor of the fanzine, Follow The Yellow Brick Road and team Manager of FTYBR FC. Since reading a copy of the Stags fanzine, Size 10 1/2 Boots in the Sir John Cockle back in 1989, Steve has had a buzz for putting together supporters views on the mighty Mansfield Town. He did take a few years off, during that time, Keith Parnill took over, but then during the 97/98 season when Keith had had enough, rather than let the fanzine die, Steve took over once again and has not looked back since.

On the football front, it was Steve's idea to set up a supporters side to provide the supporters of Mansfield Town the opportunity of not only representing their football club but to also have the chance of meeting up with fellow supporters of different Clubs up and down the Country. This has been a great success over the years and Steve gets a lot of pleasure in seeing old members of the FTYBR FC team now firm friends.

A once upon a time, half decent left back, (or so he say's), Steve has always said that he would rather give the chance for someone else to play rather than himself. This is probably why he has stuck to managing for so many years. Saying that though he has won a number of trophies as Manager, including of course FTYBR FC's victorious trip to the twin towers of Wembley in 1994.

Steve decided towards the end of last season, 2004/05 that he would once again try to get the FTYBR FC side back on track and playing more regularly. Thankfully a lot of young players have come through and FTYBR FC is once again growing.

The Club has a proud history that Steve takes a lot of pride in and he now gets as much enjoyment from the current FTYBR FC set up as he ever did with the original team.

He has for a number of years done co-Commentary on first, Mansfield 103.2 and now Stagsworld and along with his Wife Emma, are regular faces in the pressbox of League Clubs up and down the Country.

Now considered too fat and idle by most, it seems as if Steve's playing career is over, although he does keep telling folks that he is going to get his boots on again! For that, time will tell.

Married, with no kiddies just yet, bar from his dog, Paddy, Steve also does the match reports for the Mansfield and Ashfield Observer and was co-author to the Breedon Books best seller 04/05, The Legends of Mansfield Town.
