Paul Taylor of the SSA
Tokenism
I’m assuming Paul would say something given the volume of fans that comment, so is it a case of “this is your opportunity to have your say but we’re going to do what we want anyway?”
That's what I mean Jim, regardless of what Paul says they (SAG/police) will do what they want. Having a fan on the SAG committee just allows them to pay lip service to any consultation. He may as well resign the post.

The best thing about this thread is the number of actual genuine rights of way experts we have on here. What are the chances.

A nice bit of fake news by Alan the Announcer this afternoon at about 430pm claiming the 1803 train to Worksop had been cancelled and all United supporters should ensure they get on the 1657 train and out of town asap.
Of course the 1803 train to Worksop turned up just a minute late.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

What happened that you saw from Costa del sol?
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Apologies, wasn’t trying to suggest the thread had no point. I was just impressed by the breadth of knowledge on public rights of way.

You've got my backing on this however I can help, Bene...Erm...Random.
I've seen too many close calls on the main road (either overspill of fans almost getting hit by cars or angry exchanges of fans that closing the gate in the first place was supposed to avoid) and also been victim to walking all the way over the car park to the gate only to find it locked and having to walk past away fans (again, a potentially dangerous situation they are apparently trying to avoid).
Last years pre season I saw a sheff weds fan, a woman in about her 70s, about 5 mins before kick off, go from the pate bar to the gate only to find out she had to walk all the way around.
What does locking the gate do that just putting a few coppers around the same area wouldn't solve exactly? Or, as mentioned, holding away fans back for 10 minutes in our "at risk" home games.
And please god, don't say that the police are right to do this because of a few drunken idiots... That's like saying its good that absolutely everyone has to remove their shoes in airport security because one guy once tried to sneak a bomb in with his shoes. Pete's right with the police state comment on that.
Unfortunately they can whatever they want because 9/11. Don't be surprised if they just rescinded it as a public right of way to stop more youth team van fire incidents.

OK OK, reading it back I can see how the two things I wrote there could be connected, but they are not. Thanks for your input there though, Rob

Hmmm. I wonder if they have sniffer dogs trained to detect bolt cutters?

Living in Worksop and coming by train and have to walk all around the ground before and after the match to take my seat in west stand . Fair enough I don’t mind walking but it’s the fact I’m not allowed to walk where I want in 2018 Britain to go to a sports venue is one reason I will pick my games this season. Can’t pay on the day without paying more than if I got my ticket in advance, can’t just decide last minute, don’t know if I can get due to work, will it be 11.30. , 1.30 , 3 o’clock. No wonder I don’t get a season ticket. 3000 gates and it’s as if we are sold out all the time how many hurdles to jump over. Bring back the north stand in the 70s pitch black path full of glass and sludge and mud ..it was safe for us then ..what happened ??

To be fair Newport can be dirty so and sos, I’ve never been spat at so much in my life as by Newport fans on the walk to Rodney Parade a couple of years ago. Can it be a coincidence that their mascot is called Spytty?!
