It has to be good news that we have another relatively local club to play next season, assuming of course we are still in League 2. Lincoln fully deserve their promotion.

Rhead won't be retained for league football. Be interesting to see what their rookie managers do to rebuild the side ready for league football.
Would you like to put money on that?

Most league 2 clubs would employ Rheady if they had the chance but I can't see Lincoln letting him go. He has been a central part of their tactics this season and I can't see them totally changing their style of play. I think they will be a major force next year as they have the money to improve the team particularly in defence.

Will they make the same mistake as we did when we got back in the league? Which was to keep faith with most of the players that got us there. Clearly they have the finances to sign better players

Now they're a League side again (and well done btw) they now become enemies. Therefore the love in hath now ended from me and I can hate them again.

I don't see why Rhead wouldn't be retained.

Went to watch Lincoln City play Newport County last Tuesday. You could pay at the turnstile to sit behind the goal in the Stacey West Stand. Lincoln had put the 87 Newport fans in the corner at the other end.
It was a 1-2-3 at The Sincill Bank Rehabilitation Centre for former Stags' strikers as Matt Rhead, Matt Green and Ollie Palmer all scored to give Lincoln the three points against a lively Newport side who probably had more possession and played the better football. Matt Green crossed from the right for Matt Rhead to head home for the first goal before Padraig Amond equalized for Newport after following up Matty Dolan's shot which had been well saved by Paul Farman. Padraig Amond then had a good chance to give Newport the lead but Farman made a good save. HT: 1-1
Lincoln made a quick start to the 2nd half and Matt Rhead flicked on to Matt Green who ran through and finished well to give the Imps the lead. Newport then pressed hard for an equalizer and pinned Lincoln back but they could not make the most of their possession. Matt Rhead was subbed after 61 minutes as Danny Cowley decided to play Matt Green up front on his own. Matt Green was then replaced by Ollie Palmer after 72 minutes and Ollie managed to score the vital third goal with his second touch after his shot bounced in off the post. Newport still went forward and Paul Farman blocked what looked like a certain goal by Matty Dolan with his face in the five minutes added time. Lincoln saw the game out but Newport had made them work hard for the three points. Lincoln fans gave right back, Neil Eardly MOM and I noticed Newport fans gave theirs to Padraig Amond. It was a good three points for Lincoln but Newport made them work hard for it. Newport will certainly take points off other teams near the top of the league.
Lincoln City 3 Newport County 1 (HT: 1-1)
Attendance: 7,567 (87 from Newport)

Lincoln must be making a lot of money out of this "Mickey Mouse" competition.

I think this is the sixth time they have been one game away after blowing the play offs to League One five seasons in a row before they got relegated to the conference.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

Didn't that Bathshoey guy play for Chelsea U21s in this comp?
Will Chelsea be under orders to throw the game?
What a mockery it'd be if they won the competition.

Lincoln won on penalties with Palmer and Green scoring pens, then Frecklington scoring the decisive penalty. In the 90 minutes, Lincoln were the better side overall. Chelsea U21 have some excellent young English players, especially Hudson-Odoi and St Clair, but they didn't get into the game enough. On the one occasion Hudson-Odoi did, Chelsea scored. If Chelsea U21 had played as they did in the previous round against Oxford, they would have won.

Another 50k plus crowd then if Wembley is big enough for massive Lincoln. Bet Shaun Harvey has creamed his pants tonight the bell end.

Good night then, lets hope Lincoln get giddy dreaming of Wembley and take their eye off the league.
Also means Lincoln v Wycombe is postponed and therefore a bit more fixture congestion.
