In here please.

Stockport's dropped points on Monday mean that we are the masters of our own fate again now.

Colchester are getting to the stage where they need 3 points in the battle for survival. I can see them being a bit more attacking this time around, with potential for leaving themselves a little exposed. As long as our defence stays disciplined and doesn't let them get an early goal, I think we should be able to see them off. I'm going to go with a 2-0.

I’d definitely play the same 11 that started the Bradford game. They won 5-1, controlled the game from the first minute and they’ve had a full week between matches, so no need for rest.

I wonder if they will be travelling up Friday?
If they come up Saturday morning they will have to set off about 0700.
3.5 -4 hrs on a coach won’t do them any favours!

If fit I would probably start Clarke for Boateng,

However it comes I do not care, but it needs to be three points on Saturday.
At home to a struggling side this is a fixture where the gas pedal needs to be pressed hard to put distance between the chasers and us. It's gonna be tough but if we play remotely as well as we started at VP last Saturday we will triumph.
No silly farting about in the box, no rash red card challenges and a determined focus to get the job done.
Then they can sit and watch the results come in later and have a beer.

Well it won't be in Mansfield. Mrs Dorkins at the local B&B has got damp.

The Dakota one in Annesley or whatever it is called now used to be a regular place i believe.

I imagine they will come to frustrate, even if we get a goal and take the lead I think they may just try to stay in the game.

If the Cowley’s have done their magic Colchester will be horrible to play against so I’m expecting a tough game, but I feel we owe them one so would love to see them taste their own medicine.

It’s all about how we start, if we start with tempo Colchester will find it hard to cope with us, However allow them to slow it down and time waste then it could be a very frustrating day. Hopefully we will have a strong ref who won’t put up with any shenanigans. I’m sure the brothers Grimm will be plotting the dark arts!

They are booked into the Clifton on Terrace rd. 5 star accommodation with a big fry up satdey mornin.
I’ve spoke to my mate big Ron the manager to make sure he sets his non existent fire alarms off at 3am so it wakes the buggers up. Not that they will be asleep like . One eye open and all that.

Tomorrow's referee is Simon Maher. He has reffed us in 3 games.

His last game for us was pretty much exactly 1 year ago 0-0 Home draw with Sutton United on 25th March

Martin rated him: 4 Shocking game. Should have got a grip of Sutton’s constant fouling in the first half and didn’t. Multiple other errors

The game before that, in the same season, he reffed our 1-2 Home loss to Bradford City on 8th November 2022.

Martin rated him: 8 Credit to him for noting the blatant time-wasting and adding on ten minutes of stoppage time. Got the sending off of Platt right.

His fist game he ever reffed for us was our 3-2 home win against Hartlepool on Boxing day 2021.

Martin rated him: 7 The first time he has refereed a Stags game. His linesman did well to spot the offside for the disallowed goal, a correct decision, and one that made our Christmas!

Ah yes, that offside that he obviously couldn’t see, good lad.

Echo what a few others have said, come out blazing and try for the early goal, completely wreck their game plan. The longer its 0-0 the more they’ll frustrate.

Cowley refers to the form of the last 10 games.

Here is the form table.

Mansfield 31 goals.

Colchester 1 win, but only 2 defeats, with 7 draws

Definitely made them more difficult to beat but they’ve not won in their last 6 games… if we play at our tempo and quality levels we should have too much for them

I think it depends how they view this game and therefore the approach they come with. If they come to take 3 points, I think we'll beat them - Salford style. If they come like others mostly do, which is to sit back and frustrate us, they may do well and earn themselves another draw. I suppose when you're down there and plotting an escape, you look at the games you have and judge which ones you'd happily take a point from and which ones you'd go all out to win. Us away probably falls into the category of 'a point would be a great outcome'. That said, they still have us, Wrexham, Crewe and Stockport all to play so they can't do that in all of those games if they want to move to safety.

Just no early gifting of chances / goal, get on the front foot from the off and show why we're where we are, and we'll get the 3 points we need. COYS!
