Karl Robinson Interview

Postby Class of 02 » Sat Feb 24, 2024 8:58 pm

Has anyone seen this?
Unbelievable.
I know it's an emotional game but he's seriously questioning the result based on the officiating.
I'm staggered. We all look at games with a slight bias based on the clubs we support but this is ridiculous.

There was a Podcast a few years ago called the ‘Moment of Truth’ that followed Rotherham under Warne and Oxford under Karl Robinson as the League One season reached its climax, it was a
great listen. Anyway, after listening to that his reaction today wasn’t much of a surprise.

If it’s still available I recommend it. Warne comes across as someone you’d want to play for and give everything, Robinson not so much.

That was a great podcast. Like you say Warne comes over as thoughtful, engaging, funny and reflective - whereas Robinson, in contrast, comes over as an unstable, unsympathetic nutcase.

The most interesting aspect of the podcast was how the managers dealt with the extreme emotions in terms of the highs and lows and the pressure and expectations to achieve promotion. It is no wonder that so many elite athletes end up with mental health issues.

Paul Warne’s coaching staff included Richie Barker and Matt Hamshaw.

Like you say, definitely worth a listen.

Nothing good to say about us for sure. Classless, but unsurprising tbh…he will only defend his players.

I'm honestly astonished. Lose one nil or two one and it's worthy of debate. But 5-1 and its the referee's fault?

Ref was poor and inconsistent for both sides.

The ref was pretty poor for the most part but he was spot on with the red. It was a no brainer.

Have to say I'm impressed by most of the comments I've read on Salford's fans' forum. They are well written and pretty fair, although some are criticising the decisions. But much more polite and circumspect than their manager.

Interesting that they are unanimous in fearing their forthcoming match with Colchester, who appear to be their bogey side.
Apologies if this isn't Stags related.

Their match reporter on twitter can't tell difference between Akins & Swan. Fair enough if it"s Williams & Lewis, but come on.

Absolutely no class from Robinson. Proper merchant banker.

I don't thought that it was one of the few situations he handled well including the booking of a protesting player. Something he failed to do on at least three other occasions including with Reed

Reed was very lucky not to talk himself into a booking.

Both horrible, overweight, obnoxious individuals. Never liked that scouse raspberry, glad we wiped the smile off his smug face.

Watched the game back to check if I'd missed us "targetting" Luamba, their million pound player.

Apart from the Cargill pull back we never went near him again with an aggressive challenge. He looked to have hurt himself in a coming together with no malice whatsoever.

Shame for them as he clearly caused us problems.

Robinson was out of order.

The away commentary was interesting to say the least. Full of non incidents that we should have got yellows for. Just goes to show how different sets of fans watching the same game are affected by their bias for their own team.

Watched it and thought Robinson was going to burst into tears at one time. Came across as a mardy two hat.

The whole game is soft these days.

Nowhere near as soft as Bowery's.

Did he mention the ref missed at least one handball in the box which would have been a penalty to us - I'm guessing he didn't.
