Would have to assume that Flints injury is going to be short term rather than facing an extended time out, so hopefully there’s good news on the way with that.

Leaving ourselves very short if Flint is out for 4-6 weeks.

Hes been a drain of resources with no return for 18 months so no issues with him going out just slightly surprised at the timing now considering the injury to Flint

That's probably the last we have seen of John Joe O'Toole. He helped to get us to the League 2 Play Off Final which we may have won if he had played at centre half in the final instead of in centre midfield. Fine margins. 33(2) league apps and 2 goals.

I would have signed him but you can also see why JR had his reservations. He probably now thinks he should have let him go to Donny Rovers.

Good bit of business that, he been out for a long time and will need time to get up to speed, we couldn't afford another below par player on the field. He never recovered his form from the play-off season even before he was injuries.

John John O'Toole played well in the first 6/7 games at the start of last season including wins against Tranmere Rovers, AFC Wimbledon and Stockport County before getting injured against Sutton United.. He's then just struggled to get fully fit and kept picking up injuries.

JJ was an unexpected revelation when he initially joined us on that short term deal. I'll be grateful for what he did then and how he made us so difficult to beat. Hope it goes well for him at the Dons.

Is it a possibility that Hewitt is closer to fitness than we realise. He was meant to be back this month and every update we’ve had seems to be positive. I don’t expect him to come straight into the side back at his best but I could see him making the bench tomorrow even if it’s just to make up numbers and without the expectation for him too play any of the game.

Surprise move long way away to Wimbledon but a wage less and guessing he was on decent money
Shame we never saw more of him but never got back to his Northampton standard for us sadly and been paid a lot for 18 months of nothing
Good luck south J

Clough:
"Elliott Hewitt's been away testing at St.Georges this week. They've come back positive. So he'll be joining in in a couple of weeks training with us, and should be available if all goes well before the end of February."

Clough on John-Joe O'Toole joining AFC Wimbledon:
"It was a last minute one. Only came on 2 or 3 hours before the window closed.
"Initially because of the injuries, we thought no we can't really afford to.
"Then John-Joe said `I've hardly played, I really need to get my career going`.
"I couldn't see him starting any games here between now and the end of the season.
"We've got Lewis Brunt, Baily Cargill, the news on Aden Flint was better than we were anticipating, we've got George Williams.
"So it was a case of let's be fair to everybody.
"And he's got an opportunity to get going and get playing.
"It was as much about being fair to him as anything."

I was critical of the comings and goings in the Jan window thread, regarding the wisdom of letting JJ go whilst doubt over Flint’s injury. Whilst I still think it could come back to bite us, I respect NC for the reason he has let JJ leave. Good luck at your new club JJ.
